The referee ignored Portilho F.C.'s protests and gave Evandro Catarinense a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Iacaia booed when Portilho F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evandro Catarinense didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kaká França showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedrinho Sergipano, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. In the 7th minute Sérgio Trevisan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kaká França saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 9 minutes into the game, Chico Schmidt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Iacaia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Portilho F.C. the free kick. After 9 played minutes Iacaia got a freekick which was hit by Chico Schmidt. In the 11th minute Evandro Catarinense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juvenal Dionísio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Portilho F.C. getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Walmir Mendes hit a great ball. Kaká França took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sérgio Trevisan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kaká França made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedrinho Sergipano in the 19th minute of play. Portilho F.C.'s Kaká França played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sérgio Trevisan in the 21st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Diogo Valladares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Portilho F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Diogo Valladares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juvenal Dionísio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 24th match minute, Iacaia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sérgio Trevisan to maneuver through the defense. If Diogo Valladares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Iacaia getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Chico Schmidt hit a great ball. Evandro Catarinense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Juvenal Dionísio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Diogo Valladares might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Juvenal Dionísio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Diogo Valladares ran back to his position shaking his head. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Kaká França showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedrinho Sergipano in the 53rd minute of the match. In the 58th minute Gilvan Varela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kaká França saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 61 played minutes Iacaia got a freekick which was hit by Sérgio Trevisan. Portilho F.C.'s Diogo Valladares got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Iacaia's Sérgio Trevisan shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 65th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Kaká França but with some difficulty. Thanks to some nice moves Gilvan Varela could shoot a difficult shot in the 67th minute, which Kaká França however easily saved by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedrinho Sergipano in the 68th minute of play forced Portilho F.C.'s goalkeeper Kaká França to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kaká França showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedrinho Sergipano in the 69th minute of the match. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Iacaia players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
